Tracker

Tracker is a semantic data storage for desktop and mobile devices. Tracker uses W3C standards for RDF ontologies using Nepomuk with SPARQL to query and update the data. What this means is, Tracker is a central repository of user information, that provides two big benefits for the user; shared data between applications and information which is relational to other information (for example: mixing contacts with files, locations, activities, etc.).

Services

Given the size of Tracker, there are quite a number of areas which we offer support service around. Since Lanedo has a majority in the core maintainers on the project, we are able to fix core bugs which may be found for any business using the framework. Additionally, given the APIs available, we can help businesses write data miners and metadata extractors which fit into the existing framework for specific feature support. Due to the size of Tracker, we also offer training to help businesses understand more quickly to get the most out of it.

If any of these services are what you're looking for, or perhaps some of the other services we offer, send us an email to service@lanedo.com to find out how we can help.

History

Tracker is quite a large framework now. Back in 2007, Nokia asked Lanedo for a technology evaluation as to the best project to use for sharing metadata between applications to be able to find data which was linked as fast as possible. At the time, Tracker was the most feature complete. Since then it has grown in mass and followers and is a central part of the MeeGo platform (and some others).

At this point, Tracker is most commonly used to associate key user data on small devices (like mobile phone handsets). For example, sharing contact information between the phone, calendar and email applications or sharing images/audios/videos between the phone, contact list and desktop applications. There are quite a number of practical uses and one of the best is of course searching for the data you have stored by all applications in one systematic and efficient way. This is also offered by Tracker.
