Donating to charity
December 25, 2011
As we did last year, Lanedo wanted to thank our customers for the business we've received in 2011 and to give something back for that. As such, Lanedo has donated approximately 10% of its revenue to charity.
There were 2 charities chosen:
The Red Cross was chosen because (like last year) we believe this is quite a worthy cause. The Somersham support group and Myeloma support charities were chosen because this year founder Martyn Russell discovered that his father (Brian) had Multiple Myeloma, a type of cancer. The Somersham ward at Ipswich hospital in the UK have been assisting Brian with his aftercare ever since. For now Brian is in remission and getting better by the day!

Lanedo & Samsung collaboration
February 01, 2011
Over the past 2 years, Lanedo has engaged with Samsung working on upstream open source projects like GTK+. The focus has been on improving the frame rate and performance on embedded devices bringing it in-line with other major players in the market.
Performance is not the only goal Samsung and Lanedo have achieved, key technologies such as multitouch (with XI2.x) and a gesture handling framework have been developed and polished in coordination with upstream, improving the GTK+ landscape for all applications.
We've been excited about the work we are doing with Samsung and are happy to be part of it.
Donating to charity
December 25, 2010
We wanted to thank our customers and to give something back for all the work we had during 2010. So Lanedo decided to give to approximately 20% of its revenue to charity.
There were 6 charities chosen:
- St. Elizabeth's Hospice
- Unicef
- King's College Hospital
- Red Cross
- SOS Children's Village
- Ipswich Hospital Urology Department
There were a number of reasons to choose these charities. For the King's College Hopital, Ipswich Hopital and St. Elizabeth's Hospice, the reasons were very close to our hearts. During 2010, Brian Russell (father to Martyn, co-founder of Lanedo) was diagnosed with prostate cancer. This is something his father also suffers from (as do millions of men towards old age). Each of these hospitals has been instrumental in helping Brian beat the cancer and helping both family members with treatments. Additionally, St. Elizabeth's Hospice has aided the late Alison Clarke who was close to Martyn also.
Our world has seen much grief and disasters last year that caught our attention. To help mitigating and future development, half of our donations went to the wider public through Unicef, SOS Children's Villages and the Red Cross.
